2026-27 points-league draft guide

League-Winner Picks

Picks with title-swinging upside in points formats. These are mostly volume players whose weak efficiency scares category drafters and whose stats pay out in points leagues.

  1. 1

    Paolo Banchero

    PF/SF · ORL

    22.2 PTS, 8.4 REB, 5.2 AST over 72 games · usage never below 27.5%

The cleanest points-league vs category-league split on the board. His 45% field-goal shooting, 74% free throws and three-plus turnovers sink him in 9-cat, but points formats are built on volume, and he has scored 20+ in all four NBA seasons. Two Yahoo/RotoWire pieces name him a top points target, and RotoWire calls his rise one of the biggest format-driven moves.

Counterpoint: FantasyPros and Rotoworld list him as a bust, but they're judging him on category value.

  2. 2

    Darius Acuff Jr.

    PG · SAC

    Arkansas: 23.5 PTS, 6.4 AST, 44% 3PT · Bob Cousy Award

With Russell Westbrook retired and DeMar DeRozan gone, the No. 7 pick walks into a ball-dominant role. CBS's model ranks him above Trae Young and De'Aaron Fox, Fantrax moved him from 91 to 75, and a Yahoo mock had him as a value at pick 103.

Counterpoint: Rookie point guards usually start the season inefficiently.

  3. 3

    Josh Giddey

    PG/SG/SF · CHI

    Career-best 17.0 PTS, 8.3 REB, 9.1 AST

A nightly triple-double threat is the most valuable player type in points scoring. His shaky shooting barely matters here, which is why a Yahoo mock took him 15th.

  4. 4

    Alperen Sengun

    C/PF · HOU

Triple-double upside from the center slot, career-high assists

RotoWire and NBA.com call him one of the best values in the format at No. 14. A center whose assists stack on top of rebounds wins head-to-head points matchups.

  5. 5

    Julius Randle

    PF · BKN

With Minnesota: 20.0 PTS, 6.9 REB, 4.9 AST · Knicks years: 28.7%+ usage

He's now the top option on a weak Nets roster. ESPN's Eric Karabell expects around 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Yahoo's Mike Barner, RotoWire and the Yahoo mock (taken at pick 59, ranked 41) all have him going too late.

Counterpoint: CBS's model lists him as a bust because he's stuck on a rebuilding team.

    ADP #59Our projections #41Boogie Nights #40
  6. 6

    Stephon Castle

    PG/SG · SAS

Assist volume with weak shooting and turnovers

The two flaws that hurt him in category leagues, shooting and turnovers, cost the least in points leagues. NBA.com calls him 'one of the format's best buys', and a Yahoo mock had him 26th against an ADP of 54.

Counterpoint: Rotoworld fades him because Dylan Harper's rise could cut into his volume.

    ADP #46Our projections #56Boogie Nights #47
  7. 7

    Walker Kessler

    C · LAL

2.4 BLK and 12.2 REB in his last full season · nearly 70% FG

He signed for $130M to be the third option next to Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. CBS's model makes him its top sleeper, and ESPN sees top-40 upside if he stays healthy.

Counterpoint: RotoWire's points rankings say his blocks and field-goal percentage matter less here, so wait for round 4 rather than reach.

  8. 8

    Domantas Sabonis

    C/PF · SAC

    Healthy 2024-25: 19.1 PTS, 13.9 REB, 6.0 AST

Played only 19 games last season, so his price has dropped. With Westbrook and DeRozan gone he gets his usage back, and his scoring, rebounding and playmaking mix fits points scoring best of all.

Counterpoint: Health is the only question.

    ADP #21Our projections #15Boogie Nights #14
  9. 9

    Darius Garland

    PG · LAC

    Yahoo ADP 62

He's the Clippers' main ball-handler while Brandon Ingram recovers from an Achilles injury. RotoWire projects career highs in points and assists, and Fantrax moved him from 57 to 43.

Counterpoint: Injury history and possible late-season rest.

    ADP #48Our projections #51Boogie Nights #49
  10. 10

    Matas Buzelis

    SF/PF · CHI

    Yahoo ADP around 60

RotoBaller calls him a potential league winner, and RotoWire thinks he has another level after last year's breakout if Chicago lets him play his full game.

    ADP #72Our projections #73Boogie Nights #72
