EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno told Reuters the league is still willing to talk with the NBA, which plans a European league in 2027, even after club owners rejected its collaboration proposal at their October 6 meeting at Lake Como. He warned that a rival NBA league would be "a disaster." Bueno said only 40% of current licence holders are financially sustainable, but most, if not all, could be within five years if the expansion to 24 teams succeeds. All 13 shareholder clubs have signed 10-year agreements, and new participants are expected to be announced in mid-November.
